Joan King
(nee Calhoon)
Helena Joan King, age 79, formerly of Morris, and a long time Joliet resident, passed away peacefully at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008. She was born in Pontiac, MI on September 16, 1929 to the late Bessie (nee Schaeffer) and Othel Calhoon. She was a pioneer employee at the former Jefferson Square Mall where she started at Wieboldt's and then worked at Heaven Street Gold, and finally at GNC until the mall closed. Joan was a devoted fan of Julio Iglesias.
Beloved mother of Barbara (Bernard) Hastings and Carolyn (Jesse) Eisenbeis; loving and devoted grandmother of Steven Davis and Sunshine Davis; William (Andi) Alberico, Dawn (Kenneth) DuPree; and Jason Eisenbeis; fond great-grandmother of ten; dear aunt of Chuck and Donald McDonald; she is also survived by her stepsons, Ken and Jack Haley.
Preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Betty.
Funeral Services for Joan King will be Monday, December 22, 2008 a.m. at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
