Obituary of Margaret Barnes

Margaret A. Barnes (nee Filipp) Age 79. Friday, February 1, 2008 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Born in Dearborn, MI; she was a lifelong Chicago area resident. She was a volunteer at Chicago Association of Children with Learning Disabilities and Recordings for the Blind. Some of her greatest loves were reading, travel, and classical music. Preceded in death by her father, Stanley; her mother, Josephine; and her stepmother, Lillian. Survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph "Joe" Barnes of Joliet and formerly of the Edgebrook neighborhood; three daughters, Carol (Steve) Nimmo of Minnesota, Terri (Tom) Maier of New Jersey and Maria (Nacho) Salazar of Joliet; two sons, Philip (Annemarie) Barnes of Batavia, and Peter Barnes of Oak Park; one sister, Alice (late Edward) Sum of Palatine; eight grandchildren, Emilie, Amy, Philip, Nathan, Nicholas, Alyssa, Elizabeth and John; and Nacho's children Services for Margaret A. Barnes will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friends of Sunny Hill Nursing Home would be appreciated. No visitation. Arrangements by: FRED C.
