Obituary of Carol Lambakis

Lambakis, Carol Louise Age 67, a former Joliet and Naperville resident, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at her daughter's residence with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 7, 1943 in Seymour, IN to the late Veronica "Babe" (nee Pyszka) and Smith Edwards. Beloved mother of Jill (Peter) Carroll and Steve (Tracie) Lambakis; loving grandmother of Matthew, Lindsey and Alex; Alyson, Jimmy and Abby; dear sister of Jerry (Yolanda) Edwards and Don Sheedy; several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, James (1979); her parents, including her stepfather, Virgil Sheedy who raised Carol with Babe after Mr. Edwards was killed in action during WWII. Carol was a registered nurse. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital for many years and the Joliet Medical Group. In later years, she enjoyed a second career in planned development home sales, working with many families, assisting them in achieving "the American Dream". Other interests included gardening and reading. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
