Obituary of Stella Leddy

Leddy, Stella (nee Tousignant) Age 91. Passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Gwinn, MI on May 28, 1921 and a resident of Joliet since 1953. Stella was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus and was active in CCW, CCD, Small Christian Community, Pastoral Care Ministry and Cathedral Seniors. She was also a member of the Joliet Hospitality Club, Paulite Club and a member and past president of the Women of Rotary. Stella was a former member of the Monday Senior Bowling, the Elks Ladies golf and several bridge clubs. Volunteering was an important part of her life with service given to her parish, Joliet Area Community Hospice and Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. She received the Joliet Rotary Silver Eagle 1996-1997 award. Stella also received St. Raymond's CCW Woman of the Year award in 1989 and 2012. Loving mother of Ruth (John) Rohan and Harry (Pam) Leddy III, both of Joliet, and Joan (Frederick) Bogwill of New Buffalo, MI. Grandmother to seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One sister, Corinne (William) Lerch of Largo, FL; one brother, Louis (Lucy) Tousignant of Ishpeming, MI. Many special friends including Helen Stubler. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, Harry Joseph Leddy, Jr. (1973); her parents, Louis and Marie (nee Garrett) Tousignant. Funeral Services for Stella Leddy will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Enshrinement Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Cathedral of St. Raymond Student Fund would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
