Obituary of Jerome Lewis
Lewis, Jerome D.
Of Parrish, Florida, died at home on Saturday, June 9, 2012.
Mr. Lewis was a long time resident of Oak Park-River Forest, Illinois. He attended Hatch Grammar School and graduated from Oak Park High School in June of 1943. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1950, after serving in the U.S. Navy for three years in World War II as a Radar Petty Officer. He was former Senior Vice President of Premier Engraving Company of Chicago. Mr. Lewis served as Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest. He was a former member of the Executive Club of Chicago, University Club of Chicago, Oak Park Country Club and River Wilderness Country Club of Sarasota. In addition, former member First Presbyterian of Bradenton, Rotary Club, American Legion and Elks Club, including served on boards for the BoyScouts and Younglife. He was Past Worshipful Master and active for many years in River Forest-Austin Masonic Lodge 850 and was a 32nd degree Shriner and Scottish Rite.
He was the husband of Patricia Austin Lewis; father of Gregory (wife Lanette), William and Mark (wife Damian) Lewis and in-law to Diane Lewis. He was the grandfather of Jason, Ryan and Katelyn Lewis.
Private family services will be held in Joliet, Illinois with burial at Mount Emblem Cemetary in Elmhurst, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 410 15th Street W., Bradenton, FL 34205 and/or Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. Arrangements by:
