Thelma J. Liberty
(nee Hocking)
Age 81. At rest Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born August 13, 1926 in Braidwood, she was a former Coal City resident and a Joliet area resident for the past 25 years. Member of the Lockport VFW #5788 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Harwood Post #5 Ladies Auxiliary and the First Assembly of God Church. Formerly employed by W.T. Grant Company of Aurora and Shephard Casters Company of St. Joseph, MI.
Preceded in death by her husband, William Liberty (1997), her former husband, Wesley Ashford (1976); her mother, Lillian (nee Hibner) Gersman (1990); and her father, William Hocking (1971).
Survived by two sisters, Janice (Johnnie) Hickman of Aurora, IL and Esther (late LaVerne) Schure of Lockport; many nieces and nephews, her stepdaughter, Marilyn Albiez of Joliet; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Thelma J. Liberty will be Friday, October 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Bob Hahn officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at:
