Mary C. Madden
Age 99. Peacefully Friday, May 6, 2011 at the home of her niece in Spring Grove, IL with family by her side. Born October 11, 1911, she was a long time resident of Joliet. Retired from the Joliet Public Schools after 38 years of teaching (1935-1973). Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Council of Catholic Women, the Young at Heart Club of St. Patrick, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Harriet (Dwyer) Madden; two brothers, Reverend Robert J. Madden and Jack (Frances, deceased) Madden; one sister, Elizabeth (Bernard, deceased) McBurney; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Kammerer.
She is survived by her nieces, Mary (Dennis) Decman, and Ellen (Peter) DeSpain; nephews, Thomas (Jean) McBurney, Bernard (Marian) McBurney, Patrick Madden, Thomas (Lynne) Madden, and Robert (Claudia) Madden; and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mary C. Madden will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Memorials in her name to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Johnsburg, Illinois, would be appreciated. Internment at Resurrection Cemetery.
