Obituary of Harold Manthei

Harold E. Manthei "Hal" Age 74. At rest Monday, January 11, 2010 in West Palm Beach, FL, with his family by his side. Born in Decatur, IL to the late Edward and Gertrude (nee Runge) Manthei, he was a long time Joliet resident until retiring to West Palm Beach in 1996. Educated in the Joliet School System. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves for eight years. Retired from Universal Oil Products (Honeywell) in 1996, following 21 years of service. Formerly employed by Uniroyal. Former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300. In his early years, he was a Boy Scout Leader and St. Peter Lutheran School Board Member. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, bowler, gardener, and woodworker. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jane C. (nee McCarthy) Manthei of West Palm Beach; two children, Robert (Jodi) Manthei of St. Charles, IL and Bonnie (Mike) Morse of Jupiter, FL; six grandchildren, Jason Morse, Stephanie Morse, Kyle Manthei, Kelsey Manthei, Alec Manthei and Morgan Manthei; one brother, Howard (Mariann) Manthei of Yorkville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service for Harold E. Manthei will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
