Obituary of Pfc. Meari
Pfc. Andrew N. Meari
Age 21, of the United States Army, was killed in action while serving his country in Afghanistan on Novmeber 1, 2010. Born in Chicago, he was a resident of Plainfield. He attended Drauden Point Middle School and Plainfield South High School, receiving his diploma from Port Washington High School in Wisconsin where he graduated early. Throughout Andrew's military career he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantry Badge. Andrew was a passionate man and never did anything half way.
Survived by his mother, Denise (Gerald) Meehan of Plainfield; father, Mahmoud (Aisha) Meari of Grafton, WI; two brothers, Ethan and Andrew; one sister, Jenna; beloved grandson of Vivienne Williams; dear nephew of many including Todd (Stacie) Williams, his Godfather; many cousins and dear friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Pfc. Andrew N. Meari will be Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where funeral services and full military honors will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. For those who wish, donations may be directed to the Pfc. Andrew N. Meari Memorial Fund c/o Bank of Shorewood, 5650 Caton Farm Rd., Plainfield, IL 60586 that will be used towards the support of the Fisher House, an organization that provides housing and support for the families of wounded soldiers.
