James Lee Beatz
"Jim"
Age 62, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Born in Kansas City, MO. October 14, 1945 to the late Bill Beatz and the late Wanda (Beatz) Cavanaugh, he was a longtime Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Catholic High, Jim worked at Barret's Hardware Store during high school. A U.S. Navy veteran serving during VietNam, he also studied computer aided drafting in the Navy. He retired from the E J & E Railroad and the Department of Transportation.
Survived by his children, Michael, Robert (Greg), Timothy and Lori. Proud grandpa of Kyle, Devin, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Aaliyah and Brendan. Brother of Richard (Linda) Beatz, Lila (Ken) Cohill and Sue (Jack) Carugati. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by the love of his life, Karen M. (nee Hasse) Beatz.
Jim was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, the Knights of Columbus (Squires), Ravens A.C., Southside Civic Club, Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion Post #1080, New Lenox VFW and the NRA.
He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. Jim thoroughly enjoyed halloween and all holidays.
Visitation wil be Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 4 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held Wednesday morning, 9 a.m. also at the funeral home with Inurnment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
