Obituary of Samuel Newberry

Samuel David Newberry "Dave" "Sam" Passed from this life Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the age of 67. Born March 7, 1942 in Tharpe, TN to William and Clemis Newberry. A resident of Mendota, IL and former long time resident of Joliet. Beloved husband of Karen Newberry and father to Eric (Tracey) Newberry; loving grandfather "Papa" to Sean, Alex, and Kyle Newberry. Preceded in death by his parents William and Clemis Newberry; and one son, David Newberry. Dave was a long time employee of Dymar Industries and retired from the City of Crest Hill. He served our country for six years in the United States Navy. His last duty was upon the USS Saratoga. Dave was known by all for his generosity and how he was always willing to help anyone. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and rarely missed a NASCAR race. Dave, Karen and friends spent many of their earlier years together riding motorcycles across the United States. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, family and friends at the Yogi Bear Campground in Amboy. One of Dave's most precious things to do was to go fishing with his son Eric. Dave was a wonderful husband, father and friend and will be dearly missed by everyone. A prayer service for Samuel David Newberry will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy.
