Age 84. Passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Born September 22, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, he served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Abex Metals, Chicago Heights, IL as a time study supervisor after 31 years of service.
Survived by his children, Linda (Rodger) Metcalfe of Waterdown, Ontario, Canada, Michael (Tina) O'Brien of Milwaukee, WI, Maureen (Steve) Tilotta of Conroe, TX, Patricia (Tim) Enright of Calumet City, IL, Mary O'Brien of Richton Park, IL, John (Tina) O'Brien of Minooka, IL,and Kimberly (Kevin) O'Neill of Minooka, IL; his grandchildren, Larissa (Mike) Anderson, Michael (Evelyn) O'Brien, Jeannie O'Brien, Candice (Seth) McLane, Cliff (Magann) Evans, Kyle Enright, Collin Enright, Sharon (Wayne) Porty, Caryn Lee Meeks, John O'Brien, Corie O'Brien, Kevin O'Neill, and Sean O'Neill; four great-grandchildren, Hayden Anderson, Kaylah O'Brien, Christian Evans, and Tyler Porty; one sister, Mary Ellen (Tom) Atkins; one brother, Thomas O'Brien; and nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his beloved wife, Betty (nee Davis) O'Brien; his parents, John L. and Margaret (nee Moore) O'Brien; one brother, Jack O'Brien; and one sister, Peggy Mazzola.
Funeral services for James E. O'Brien will be Saturday, February 25, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Catholic Church, Minooka for Mass at 10:0 a.m. Interment will take place Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle, IL would be appreciated. Visitation Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at:
