Peter R. Olson
"Quie"
Age 88, of Morris and formerly Galesburg, IL, passed away peacefully July 2, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born November 30, 1923 in Galesburg where he was a longtime resident, until relocating to Morris seven years ago. A U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, Pete was a P.O.W. as the result of his plane going down during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the DAV.
Survived by his loving wife, Roberta (nee Rogers) Olson of Morris; step-daughter, Tracey Schurtz of Morris; daughter, Susan Olson of Country Club Hills; grandchildren, Scott Gibbs, Kate (Mike) Carey both of Morris and Dan (Stephanie) Gibbs of Norfolk, VA.; great grandchildren, Logan and Gavin Carey and Colton Gibbs. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Marci Olson and son-in-law, Randy White.
Preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle (Bunker) Sutor, father, Carl Olson; son, Steven Olson; step-daughter, Robyn White and his brother, Dwight Olson.
Pete retired from Butler Manufacturing of Galesburg in 1984. He was previously employed for many years as an Industrial Oil Sales Rep for City Services. He enjoyed watching Cubs games with his wife, was a Chicago Bears and College football fan, an avid reader, but his true hobby was Golf, and his other passion was spending time with family.
Funeral services for Peter Olson will be Friday, July 6, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Yandell officiating. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
