Josephine Ortiz
Age 86. Passed away with her loving family by her side at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home on July 31, 2009. Born in Morris, IL on June 15, 1923, she was a lifelong resident in Joliet. Josephine was a welder during WWII, and a beautician after the war.
Preceded in death by her loving and caring parents, Nemesia and Doroteo Ortiz; and her 12 siblings, Lucita Ortiz, Juan Ortiz, Lucito Ortiz, Prajedes Ortiz, Antonia Ortiz, Margarita Ortiz, Senobia (Ortiz) Bargas, her niece Eleanor (Bautista) Caceres whom she helped raise since the passing of Emilia Ortiz, Petra (Ortiz) Carrillo, Louise (Ortiz) Orosco, Cruz Ortiz, and Juanita her comadre (Ortiz) Reyes.
Survived by her nephew and best friend, Louis Alonzo. Beloved cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt and godmother to many, whom all loved her very much!
Josephine Ortiz was a very special lady who enjoyed life, kids and travel. She enriched so many lives with her generosity, true love and devotion for all of her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed, but her memories she bestowed upon us will remain a blessing and she will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services for Josephine Ortiz will be Monday, August 3, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Cremation Rites will be accorded following services with private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
