Obituary of John Pagonis

John A. Pagonis Age 65, of Joliet, passed away suddenly, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. A graduate of Joliet Township High School and Northern Illinois University, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. He taught business education for several local high school districts. Member of the American Legion Post #1080, and the Joliet Elks Lodge #296. He was a loving and caring man, and a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 40 years, Kathleen (nee Surges) Pagonis. Survived by his wife; nephew, Gene (Jodi) Pagonis; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Surges; his wife's siblings, Donna (Ron) Walsh, Linda (Felix) Orasco, Sharon (Rickey) Alexander, and Dennis (Sue) Surges; many nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Arger and Leora (nee Schwartz) Pagonis; one brother, Thomas Pagonis; father-in-law, William Surges; sister-in-law, Denise McRaven; one nephew, Thomas Pagonis and one aunt, Helen Pagonis. Funeral Services for John A. Pagonis will be Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
