Obituary of Izabele Pocius

Pocius, Izabele Domantas Age 94, of Joliet and formerly the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. She was born and raised in Lithuania and emigrated to the United States in 1949, settling in Joliet. Survived by her son, Sigitas "Sig" (Barbara) Domantas; granddaughter, Kim Pifer; great-grandson, Brandon Pifer; and several siblings and relatives in Lithuania. Preceded in death by her first husband, Klemensas Domantas; second husband, Walter Pocius; and her grandson, David Domantas. Izabele was a proud woman who worked hard all her life. She was an avid gardener and animal lover who would often befriend and feed stray animals. She was a kitchen assistant at Syl's Restaurant in Rockdale several years ago. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery in Chicago.
