Age 84. Passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 following a long battle with several health issues. Born in Mykonos, Greece on November 8, 1927, he resided in Joliet the past 60 years. Owner/operator of JCM Uniforms (Joliet Clothing Mart). Member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Ahepa, and lifelong member of the Mykonos Society.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Catherine "Katina" Polykandriotis of Joliet; his beloved son, Nick G. (Kateri) Polykandriotis of Plainfield, two grandsons whom he dearly loved, Gerald N. and Andrew N. Polykandriotis; siblings, Eleni Xydakis, Tzannis Piotis, Margarita Xydakis, and Nikoletta Sardis all of Greece; two sisters-in-law, Mary F. Panagiotopoulos and Louise Piotis both of Joliet; one brother-in-law, Stelios Panagiotopoulos of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his loyal family of JCM Uniforms.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nikolaos and Irene (Santorineou) Polykandriotis; two brothers, John in infancy and Yianni Polykandriotis.
Funeral Services for Gerald Polen will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to All Saints Endowment Fund would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 3-8 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 7:00 p.m. at:
