Obituary of Ernest Berndt SR

Ernest F. Berndt, Sr. Age 86, late of Shorewood and formerly of Willow Springs, passsed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Retired from Willow Springs School, where he was head custodian. A WWII Marine Corps veteran, serving in the South Pacific, he was the recipient of the purple heart. Member of VFW Cantigny Post #367. Beloved husband of Christine (nee Collins); dear father of Ernest "Fred" (Donna) Berndt of Woodridge, IL, Delbert Berndt of Lockport and Carol Sue (Ken) Williams of Joliet; grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of nine; several brothers and sisters also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest F. and Della (nee Criss) Berndt. Funeral Services for Ernest F. Berndt, Sr. will be Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
