Richard C. Rigoni
Age 88. Monday August 27, 2007 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Born September 15, 1918 in Blandford, IN, he was a Joliet area resident since the age of ten. Owner/operator of Mattei Brothers Shoe Repair from 1972 to 1982. A foster grandparent with Trinity Services. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran, serving during WWII, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Member of VFW Cantigny Post #367. Richard taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed playing for family and friends. He loved playing cards and dancing the polka. He was a Die Hard Cubs Fan.
Survived by his sister, Delores Coleman of Santa Monica, CA; many nieces and nephews, including Peggy (Bill) Hoffmeyer and Patti (Pete) Orlando both of Joliet; several cousins and his lifelong friends, Chuck and Jane Corso of Joliet, who he considered his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Caesar Borla; one brother, Dominic; one sister, Josephine (Timothy) Riordan; two stepsisters, Ann (Michael) Sterioti and Lucy (Bernard) Hibler.
Funeral services for Richard C. Rigoni will be Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Fr. Richard Ross officiating. As it was Richard's final request, cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment in Woodland Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday, 5:00 p.m. until time of services at:
