Roderick, Richard L.
Age 78, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his home. He was born November 9, 1933 in Joliet to the late Agnes and Robert Roderick. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War, Richard was a retired machinist from Caterpillar Inc. Previously employed at North American Rockwell in Chicago.
Loving father of Mike (Claudine) Roderick, Diane (Phil) Corcoran and Edward Roderick; dear grandfather of Richard "R.J." Roderick; dear brother of Bertha (late Robert) Saieg; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Maureen R. Roderick (June 2007); his parents; siblings, Robert "Kajo" (late Ethel), Loretta (late Charles) OBman and Ardys (late John "Jack") Riley.
Richard, a people person, was a member of the Slovenian Home, the Croatian Cultural Club and a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid White Sox fan.
Funeral Services for Richard L. Roderick will be Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice, St. John Catholic Church or the Charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-6 p.m. at:
