Sandy Romberg
"Fred" "Dutch"
Age 68, of Joliet, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in the Netherlands, September 9, 1940 to the late Gerald and Alida (nee Vandekoppel) Romberg, he had resided in Joliet since he was a teenager.
Preceded in death by the love of his life, Roberta (nee Dickenson) Romberg; one grandson Eric Martis and two brothers, Jack and Rudy Romberg.
Survived by three daughters, Miranda (Chris) DeGiovanni, Julie (Tom) Lanfear, and Bea (Darrin) Felter; one sister, Beatrix Romberg; one brother, Benjamin (Denise) Romberg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive, as well as his canine companion, Bam.
Known by many as "The Juke Box Man" he could fix most any type of amusement or arcade game. He worked in electronics all his life, retiring from Zenith, Inc. A committeeman for several terms, he sought to make the community a better place for all. A jovial man who was liked by all, he enjoyed riding his Harley, especially the annual Toys for Tots run.
A special acknowledgment to his son-in-law and primary caregiver, Tom Lanfear for his amazing dedication and wonderful care of Dutch, which will always be remembered.
Funeral services for Sandy Romberg will be Friday August 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorials preferred. Visitation Thursday 4-8 p.m. at:
