Obituary of Jeanne Rourke

Rourke, Jeanne (nee Birkey) Age 82, of Joliet, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012. Born August 16, 1930 in Joliet, Jeanne was a daughter of the late Ralph Birkey and late Marie (Wilhelmi) Birkey and was a graduate of St. Francis Academy. Jeanne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Rourke; children Dan (Terri) Rourke, Sally Rourke (Mike Schafer), Peggy (Ed) Vaughn and Bob (Diana) Rourke; grandchildren Jenn, Diana and Danny Rourke, Gina and Christine Vaughn and Anna Rourke; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Caden. Also survived by her sister, Kay (Henry) Offerman and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, Rita (late Bing) Kane. Jeanne was a lifelong resident of Joliet and active in numerous organizations. The family would like to thank all of Jeanne's caregivers especially the staffs at Rosewood Life Center and the Joliet Area Community Hospice. All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet for a Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. No visitation.
