Ruettiger, Walter Roger
"Roge"
Age 82. Born November 9, 1929 in Joliet, passed away March 20, 2012 at 2:20 p.m. surrounded by his loving family at his home. A United States Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. Retired owner/operator of Excel Oil Company. He was a member of SPEBSQSA (Joliet Blackhawk Chorus), Roge enjoyed his retirement and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #4400, Capital Gains Investment Club and Belmont Athletic Club. Roge loved to play cards and go on his gambling trips to Las Vegas with his beloved wife. He also was a die-hard Joliet Catholic football fan and attended many games over the years.
Survived by the loves of his life, his wife, Patsy (nee Pickett) Ruettiger, whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage with on November 28, 2011, and his beloved children, Roxanne (Bill) Wirt of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Ficarello of New Lenox, IL, Julia (Tom) Hlavacik of Joliet, IL, Gregory (Betsy) Ruettiger of Elwood, IL, and Carrie Ruettiger of Joliet, IL; his loving grandchildren, Peter (Amy) Ficarello, Noelle Ficarello, Mark Hlavacik, Amanda Eddington, Shelby and Ben Ruettiger, Allison (Zach) Meier, Valerie Wirt; five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Meier, Brendon Gates-Hlavacik, Grace Ficarello and Lexie Eddington; also survived by his sisters Eileen (Sam) Paul, Betty (Bill) Brewer and many nieces and nephews; Roge will be missed by his beloved pets, Gabby, Toby and Bones.
Preceded in death by his beloved son and daughter Roger Bruce (Infancy) and Jennifer. His parents, Eugene and Theresa (nee Sievert) Ruettiger, his brothers and sisters, Robert, Leo, Sylvester, Lambert, Sr. Lillian OSF, Bernard and Daniel.

Funeral Services for Walter R. Ruettiger will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Bernard Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at:
