Emma L. Bianchi
(nee Schmidt)
Age 86. Born in Joliet April 24, 1924, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. Survived by her daughters, Laureen (Dan) Crotteau, Karen (Carlo) Isabelli, Janice (Michael Merrill) Bianchi, Cathy (John) Radakovich and Dianne (Terry) Ongenae; daugher-in-law, Leann Bianchi; grandchildren, Kevin and Rachel Crotteau, Gina (Eric) Semplinski, Christopher and Alex Isabelli, Jennifer Merrill, Ann (Chuck McIrvin) and Michael (Shasta Sobo) Sceniak, Zachary Pomykala, Danielle Ongenae, Linda (Dave) Klimara and Tony (Tracy) Bianchi; brother, George (Olga) Schmidt; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friend and coach, Andy Sleezer. Preceded in death by her husband, Hugo; son, David; parents, Louis and Mary Schmidt; brothers, Frank, Louis and Fred Schmidt; sisters, Marian Shukle, Barbara Toth and Caroline Schmidt. Emma attended St. John Grade School and Joliet Township High School. She participated in local politics and ran for Joliet City Council. She was a member of the Citizens Action Council. Emma was an avid football fan and decorated her home each week with Packers decorations. She was the coach of the Silverbacks Fantasy Football Team and took first place twice over the past ten seasons with "her boys". She had fun at the local casinos and playing bingo. She enjoyed sewing, including goose outfits. She looked forward to opening buckeyes from her tree each year and collecting giraffes. Emma was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral Services for Emma L. Bianchi will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
