Sister Alice Emile Schacht, OSF
Sr. Alice Emile (Marilyn) Schacht, OSF (1931 - 2008) died peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home on October 19, 2008. She was the beloved daughter of the deceased Emil and Alice (Farley), cherished sister of John, Edward and Alice Schacht, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jane (John) Schacht of Joliet and cousins, Ramona Klee of Florida, Michael Klee of Wisconsin and John Klee of Colorado. Sr. Alice Emile was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 48 years.
Sr. Alice Emile was born and raised in Lemont, Illinois. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Lemont. She graduated from Lemont Elementary School in 1945 and from St. Francis Academy in 1949. She attended the College of St. Francis. She received her LPN from St. Frances Cabrini School of Practical Nursing in 1970. For forty-three years she ministered at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home (OLA) providing nursing care to hundreds of residents. The last few years of her ministry at OLA were as medical records clerk. Because of illness, Sr. Alice Emile retired from the staff of OLA in April, 2008. Her final months were devoted to prayer at Our Lady of Angels.
The wake will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Friday, October 24, 2008, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Saturday morning, October 25, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, 1433 Essington Road, Joliet, IL 60435. Arrangements by:
