Obituary of Barbara Seil

Barbara A. Seil "Doll" (nee Barry) Age 90. Passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet/Shorewood area resident. Barbara grew up, worked and enjoyed life on the family farm in Troy Township. Former co-owner and operator of Ev's Resort in Hackensack, MN; the Laundromat in Palmetto, FL; the Fitzer Frosty Ice Cream Parlor in Plainfield, IL; and Barb and Ev's Drive Inn, Shorewood, IL. Former TNT inspector at the Joliet Arsenal. She worked for many years as a home healthcare nurse's aid. On behalf of the Seil family they would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful, professional and empathetic care that the Lakewood Nursing Center and the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home provided their mother. Preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. Seil (1992); one son, Kenneth William Seil (1951); her parents, Thomas and Mary Barry; four brothers, Thomas, Jack (Helen), David and Edward Barry; one sister, Mary (Leon) Churchill. Survived by two sons, Gerald "Jerry" (Cheryl) Seil and Warren (Pam) Seil, both of Shorewood; five grandchildren, Deanne (Todd) Pehlke, Laurie (Eric) Wittekiend, Brian (Stephanie) Seil, Lisa Seil and Megan Seil; three great-grandchildren, Heather, Kristen and Kevin; one brother, Charles "Bud" Barry; one sister, Elizabeth Hartman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services for Barbara A. Seil will be Saturday February 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. George Klima officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
