Obituary of Anthony Stanis

Stanis, Anthony Anthony John Stanis "Tony" reached the age of 98, born to Julia and Anton, brother to the late Stella Ball and Steve Stanis. As a young boy and man, he worked in his dad's corner grocery store where he learned how to be a meat cutter. He married his late wife, Bernice Stegman, on June 18, 1939. He became a manager at the A&P, but his dream was to become a Chicago Fire Fighter which was accomplished. Tony's position was driver at the back end of the hook and ladder at the 95th & Beverly Fire House for 30 years. He also worked part time as a butcher for High-Low Foods. Tony and Bernice were the proud and loving parents of Carol (Don) Homik, Marilyn (Harry) Heersema, John, Christine (Sam Barranco/Michael Adamian), and Mary Beth (Stephens); 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Tony was a man of great faith and read his Bible daily. His love of the Lord was reflected in his daily life of love, compassion and caring for others. His work ethics of promptness and hard work was one instilled in his children, no matter what the task. Tony was a child of God honoring his father and mother always. Tony was a loving husband and father, a model for all of us to mirror. He will be missed by all he met and live in our hearts forever. Tony was always touched by the good works of the Salvation Army who gave the Fireman hot coffee and warm, dry gloves when fighting long dangerous fires. He also supported the American Cancer Society since this deadly disease took his beloved daughter, Carol. The Heart Association was also high on his list since he himself had a Pace Maker. In lieu of flowers, donations to these charities would be appreciated. Funeral Services for Anthony J.
