Obituary of Edward Stanish
Stanish, Edward J.
Age 85, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at home with his family at his side.
Born February 5, 1927 in Joliet, he was the son of Stanley Martin and Julia Louise (nee Zola) Stanish-Chapla. His father died when he was nine years old, and his stepfather, Joseph Chapla, and his grandmother, Louise Zola, helped raise him.
Ed was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army, and was a member of American Legion Harwood Post #5. He retired from the City of Joliet with over 30 years of service as a mechanic. His pastimes included golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling. He also loved being a member of the Will County Sportsmen's Club and the former Eastside A.C.
Loving father of Edward S. Stanish of Sioux City, IA, William J. (Margaret) Stanish, Marie A. (Steven) Quarcini, and Cynthia A. Stanish, all of Joliet; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley (Evelyn) Stanish of Lockport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his beloved wife, Beverly L. Stanish; one daughter, Rita Louise, in infancy; his parents; and one sister, Dolores (Ted) Schmars.
Funeral Services for Edward J. Stanish will be Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John Vianney Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in the form of Masses would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at:
