Obituary of Martina Stokes

Stokes, Martina M. "Marty" (Nee Spehar) Passed away at her home Monday, October 17, 2011. Born May 13, 1935 in Rockdale, IL to the late John and Veronica "Boots" (Nee Zagar) Spehar, living in the Channahon/Minooka area since 1965. Preceded by her son, Joseph Chesko; and her daughter, Linda (Chesko) Spray. Survived by her loving and cherished husband, of 25 years, Gene Stokes; daughter, Cheryl (Kevin) Marks; four sons, Gary Chesko, Bill (Shelly Parini) Chesko, Brad (Amber) Stokes and Bob Stokes; her son-in-law, Warren Spray; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marty worked as a waitress most of her life, then her and a friend operated a flower shop. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and playing golf all over the United States with special friends, Sam and Joyce Chirich. Marty also loved camping at the club with special friends, Brad and Chris Kingma. An avid lifelong Chicago Cubs, Bears and NASCAR fan. As it was Marty's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
