Richard H. Teas
"Dick"
Age 78. Suddenly, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Streator, IL on September 24, 1930 to the late Bert and Audrey (nee Cowan) Teas. A resident of Joliet since 1947, where he graduated from Joliet Township High School, attended Joliet Junior College, Lewis University and the University of Illinois where he received his Bachelors and Law Degrees. He served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot and was honorably discharged at the rank of Commander. He spent two years in the Naval Reserves in Glenview, IL. Employed by Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust in Chicago for five years. He practiced law with the firm of Tracy, Johnson and Wilson in Joliet for 48 years. Former Chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association Trust and Estates Section Council. He served on several task forces on the unauthorized practice of law. A co-founder and first President of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Joliet. A Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Past legal counsel to several surrounding communities and townships.
Surviving are two loving daughters, Cathi Teas (Tim) Rogers of New Buffalo, MI and Molly Teas of Joliet; two sisters, Ardyth (late Bruce) Jones of Salt Lake City, UT and Marion (late Leonard) Magill of Crystal Lake, IL; dear uncle of Susan, Melanie, Sherry, Grant, Kenneth and Bruce and their families.
Preceded in death by his wife, Janice K. (nee Eikenmeyer) Teas (1990); his two children, Melita and Charles Teas; parents; his siblings, Garth (Elsie) Teas, Martha (Robert) Smith and Robert Teas; his nephew, Robert Gordon Smith.
Richard H. Teas will Lie in State on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Avenue, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Craig M. Herr officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in his name to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra or Children's Memorial Hospital would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at:
