Obituary of Leona Terlep

Leona Grace Terlep (nee Dick) Age 98. Passed away peacefully Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her family by her side. Born in Lockport, IL on January 6, 1912. An Elwood resident from 1948-1978, where Leona and her husband, Leonard, owned and operated the Terlep Mobile Home Park. A long time Joliet area resident, and for the past 18 years and until her death, a resident of the Marycrest Village Apartments. Retired from Silver Cross Hospital in 1975. Member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard J. Terlep (1989); her parents, Charles and Celia "Mabel" (nee Leek) Dick; three brothers, Harry (Bernadine nee Sameck), Louis and Frank Dick; and two sisters, Hazel (Michael) Lambert and Mabel (Joseph) Antole. Adoring mother of Leonard R. (Nancy) Terlep of Joliet, Diane Leona (James G.) Birkey of Joliet, Kenneth D. (Kathryn) Terlep of Cedar Grove, NC and Ronald J. (Carol) Terlep of Belleville, IL; ten devoted grandchildren, David (Rebecca), Daniel (Diane), John (Toby) Terlep, Leanne (Joseph) Bates, Lora (Glenn) Kitchell, Linda (Thomas) Kapfer, Mark (Joanne), Michael and Paula Terlep, and Douglas Terlep; 16 wonderful great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Loving and taking care of her family was her life's mission. Funeral Services for Leona Grace Terlep will be Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
