Obituary of Bernard Tessiatore

Bernard P. Tessiatore "Bud" "Bernie" Age 93. At rest Monday, March 1, 2010 at Sunrise Retirement Home in Naperville. Born in Joliet to the late Bernard and Anna (nee Perella) Tessiatore, he was a lifelong Joliet/Lockport resident. Graduate of Joliet Junior College Class of 1936 and of Joliet Township High School Class of 1934 where he served the school as Class President and was instrumental in organizing the yearly class reunions after his graduation, up until 2005. A United States WWII Army Air Corps veteran and flight instructor. A retired master salesman for Sentry Insurance Company, and the recipient of numerous sales awards. Formerly employed by Central Laundry of Joliet. He was active in several civic organizations including the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters and Boy Scouts of America. Survived by two children, Susan Hearne of Orland Park, and Robert (Mary) Tessiatore of Downers Grove; five grandchildren, Beth (Evan) Scharfer, Joshua T. Hearne; Dominic, Elizabeth and David Tessiatore; one great-grandson, Nolan L. Scharfer; one brother, Richard (Beverly) Tessiatore and sister-in-law, Ruth (late John) Tessiatore both of Joliet. Preceded in death by his wife Leona C. Tessiatore (Oct. 5, 2009); parents; one sister, Carolyn Maltby and one brother, John Tessiatore. Funeral Services for Bernard P. Tessiatore will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony of Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
