Harry V. Tracy
"Vince"
Age 77. At rest Thursday, December 17, 2009 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Born in Joliet to the late Harry M. and Ceile Tracy, he was a lifelong resident. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1950. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired from Ameritech/Illinois Bell in 1996 following 38 years of service. Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, serving his church as head usher for 25 years. Member of the Illinois Bell Telephone Pioneers. A volunteer for the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL where he operated a trolley. He was an avid model railroader, where he drew kids from the neighborhood who admired his grand railroad designs.
Survived by two sons, Daniel J. (Deborah) Tracy of Joliet, and Robert V. (Dee) Tracy of Homer Township; one daughter, Mary Joan (Paul) Bernhard of Manhattan; cherished grandfather of Michelle (Kevin) Luehrs, Lisa and Rebecca Tracy; Kara and Kaylyn Tracy; Michael and Kimberly Bernhard; devoted great-grandfather of Nicholas George Tracy and Christian Lee Luehrs; one brother, Robert (Irene) Tracy of Santa Cruz, CA; one sister, Mary Therese (late Andrew) Paul of Joliet; and numerous in-law, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. (nee Offerman) Tracy (1998); three sons, Martin (1978); and twins, Mark and Mike (1958); one brother, Dennis (Sissy, nee June).
Funeral Services for Vince Tracy will be Monday, December 21, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Alzheimer's Research would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 3-8 p.m. at:
