Obituary of Mary Tracy
Mary Elizabeth Tracy
Age 85. Passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 25, 2007. Born in Joliet to the late Charles and Catherine (nee Fay) Tracy, she was a lifetime resident. A graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1940. She received her Bachelors of Science from the College of St. Francis, and earned her Masters degree in Library Science from Rosary College. Early in her career, Mary Elizabeth was an educator in Germany after the war; she taught dependents of military personnel in Bramerhaven and Frankfurt. Upon her return to Joliet, she continued her career with the Joliet Public School System, ultimately becoming Librarian for both Joliet Central High School and the College of St. Francis. She was a very active member of the Joliet Historical Society.
Loving sister of Catherine Brohan; she was the aunt of twelve adoring nieces and nephews: Paul (Beth) Brohan, Mark (Mary) Brohan, Mary Kay Brohan (Jim), Elizabeth Brohan (Robert), Donald Brohan; Michael Tracy, the late Peter (Barbara) Tracy, Georgia Tracy, Patricia Tracy, John (Alice) Tracy, Sarah (Ralph) Hubregsen and Frances (Thomas) Pandola; dear great-aunt of 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald (late Mary Ann) Tracy; and one nephew.
Funeral Services for Mary Elizabeth Tracy will be Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses or memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 3-8 p.m. at:
