Edward E. Troy
Age 73, of Joliet, IL. the past 18 years, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010. Born January 26, 1937 to the late Carl and Pearl (nee Krueger) Troy he was raised in the LaPorte and Warsaw, Indiana area. An educator for 38 years primarily at Northwest Indiana high schools, Ed also enjoyed officiating swim and track meets in that region. Later in his career, he was a substitute teacher at Joliet Central High School and also a dedicated summer term instructor at Culver Military Academy.
He is survived by his wife Carole (nee Hiller) Troy of Joliet; daughter Nancy (Tom ) O'Brien of Texas; son Jeff (Stacey) Troy of Florida; grandchildren Kyle and Erin O'Brien; Payton and Carson Troy; stepfather of Mickey (Laura) Penosky of North Aurora, IL, Lee (Bret) Hruby of Naperville, IL and Lynn (Eric) Sandberg of Wheaton, IL; step grandfather of Lydia, Liberty, Daniel, Patrick and Dawn Penosky; Brittaney, Bret Jr. and Mitchell Hruby; Drew, Elyse and Bryce Sandberg. Also survived by one brother Ron Milner of Warsaw, IN.
Ed enjoyed attending church at First Assembly of God in Joliet and sharing his knowledge with his students in the classroom and in athletics.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Joliet, where visitation will take place at 4:00 p.m. until services begin at 6:00 p.m., officiating will be Pastor James Arnold and Pastor Bob Hahn. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to First Assembly of God Church would be appreciated. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the Eason Memorial Chapel at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Indiana. Arrangements by:
