Obituary of Fanoula Vidalakis

Fanoula V. Vidalakis Age 88. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Greece, she came to the United States as a foreign student and graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Finance, and earned her teacher's certificate from Pestalozzi College, Chicago. She loved being a teacher of Junior High Social Studies and Art for 33 years for Troy School District. She was a member of the National Art Education and Illinois Art Education Associations. Member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Philoptochas Society and Daughters of Penelope of which she was Past President. Active with Joliet Artists League serving as Program Chairman. Preceded by her parents, Vasilos and Olympia Voulgarakas; one brother, Anthony Voulgarakis; and one sister, Theresa Voulgarakis. Survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Emmanual G. "Mike" Vidalakis of Joliet; her son, Dr. George (Ina) Vidalakis of Shawano, WI; her daughter, Diane (Brad) Kamberos of Homer Glen; three grandchildren, Michael (friend Kimberly Stone) and Stephanie Vidalakis and Kallista Kamberos; and one sister, Polyxeni (Sideris) Diatsidou of Katerini, Greece. Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Fanoula V. Vidalakis will be Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Stephanos Bithos officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
