Obituary of William Vukonich
Vukonich, William Lawrence
Age 64. Passed away Friday, May 6, 2011. Born May 17, 1946, he was a lifelong resident of the Joliet/Crest Hill area, graduating from Lockport Township High School in 1963, and completing two years of college. He met the love of his life, his wife, Tina, in 1963 when they both worked at Honiotes Brothers Supermarket, and married her in July 1967.
He became the youngest store manager of an A&P Supermarket, and later, the entrepreneur of various businesses, including the Shorewood Phillips 66 service station and mini mart (Rt. 52/I-55). He sold his business in 1991 and became a realtor in 1999 with Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell on Essington Road where he assisted his realtor wife. He was a very kind, gentle, devoted husband, and caring person.
He was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Catherine (Oct. 2010).
Survived by his best friend and devoted, loving wife of 44 years, Tina, nee Policandriotes (Polley); his father, George Vukonich, Jr.; a brother, George (Marty) III of Oregon; and an uncle, Lawrence (Violet) Vanchina.
Funeral Services for William L. Vukonich will be Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-7 p.m. at:
