Walsh, Helen B.
(nee Batis)
Age 94, a lifetime Joliet resident, passed away Friday, Feburary 3, 2012 at her home.
She was born January 24, 1918, the daughter of Amelia (nee Kostolny) and Rudolph Batis. Helen attended Ss Cyril and Methodius grade school and Joliet Township High School, graduating with the class of 1936.
Survived by her daughters, Karen (Jim) Tyler of Elwood, IL and Leanne (Joseph) Klein of St. Charles, IL; two grandaughters, Sarah Tyler of Chicago and Grace Audra Klein of St. Charles; her brother, Edward (late Irene) Batis. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert C. Walsh (2006); parents; one brother, Augustine "Augie" (late Frances) Batis; and one sister, Anna (late Tony) Rusko.
Helen was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Catholic Womens League and the Hospitality Club. She was a former member of the Visitation and Aid Society and in 2002 was presented the Silver Eagle Award from the Joliet Rotary Club for her longtime community volunteerism.
Some of her hobbies and passtimes included golf, bridge, traveling and sewing. She was a very talented seamstress, often designing beautiful clothing for friends and family, created after a brief conversation about the basic style for which the individual was looking.
Aside from her hobbies and talents, Helen's most favorite passtime was spending time with her family.
Funeral Services for Helen B. Walsh will be Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Church of St. Jude would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at:
