Obituary of Jerry West

West, Jerry Age 70, of Morris, IL, and formerly Worth, IL passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 28, 2012. He was born January 6, 1942 in Chicago to the late Ann (Mrskos) and Verl West. Survived by his son, Jeff West, one brother, Ron (Gerry) West and one sister Judy (Mike) Kowalczyk. Proud uncle of Rhonda (Dave) Lasee, Amy (Michael) McCole and Jeremy Kowalczyk. Great uncle of twins, Shawn and Derek Lasee and Bryce McCole. Jerry was a US Army Veteran who served in Korea; he retired from Amtrak as a Locomotive Engineer after over 30 years of service and was previously employed by the New York Central Railroad. He was a member of the Morris Car Club, enjoyed polka dancing, riding his motorcycle, tinkering with his Harley or his cars, including a 1950 Ford Crestliner. A religious man, he also appreciated a good laugh, his friends and family and a good meal and conversation at "R" Place. Funeral services for Jerry West will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Cremation rites will follow Mass.
