Obituary of Sherry Whiteley

Sherry A. Whiteley (nee Gladders) Age 48. Passed away peacefully Friday, October 24, 2008 at her home in Sumter, SC. Born January 2, 1960 in Joliet. She was a long time resident of the Shorewood area and graduated from Joliet West High School. Survived by her husband, Doug Whiteley; stepson, Doug Whiteley, Jr.; sister and best friend, Vicky (William) Seeman; brothers, Gerald (Margaret) Gladders and Shaun (Kim) Gladders; nephews, Christopher Gladders, William (Lisa Jungles) Seeman, Benjamin (Emily) Seeman, Robert Gladders, and Alexander Gladders; nieces, Emily Gladders, Samantha Gladders and Sarah Gladders; great nephew, Conner Seeman; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a very special cousin and friend, Cindy Jenkins. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Bing" and Lorraine Gladders of Joliet; grandparents, Walter and Violet Hirsch and William and Grace Gladders; and a niece, Megan Gladders. Sherry was a wonderful, loving person who put the needs of others before her own and loved animals, especially her canine companion of 11 years, Simba. Funeral services for Sherry A. Whiteley will be Friday, October 31, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
