Obituary of David Whittington SR

David A. Whittington, Sr. Age 89. Late of Morris, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Born June 23, 1918 in Oglesby, IL to the late Clarence and Ellen (nee Brain) Whittington. He was a former Rock Falls resident of 50 years. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII, David was a member of the VFW and was also an avid fisherman. He retired from Northwestern Steel & Wire of Sterling after more than 30 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife Hazel C. (nee Phifer), whom he married June 20, 1945 in Tennessee. Beloved father of David, Jr. (Suzy) of Cookville, TN; Dale (Rita) of Morris; Greg (Sandy) of Algood, TN, and Allan (Chris) of Sharpsburg, GA. Loving grandfather of Monica (Eric) Rubright; Stephanie (John) Williams; Scott (Kendra) Whittington; Traci (Roger) Fox; Regina (John) Renken; Arron and Cori Whittington. Proud great-grandfather of Seth Williams; Daniel, Jessica and Kristin Fox; Shelby and Madison Renken. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson, Jedidiah and his brothers and sisters. Funeral services for David A.
