Obituary of Hazel Whittington

Hazel C. Whittington (nee Phifer) Age 86, of Morris and formerly of Rock Falls, passed away Saturday December 18, 2010 at the Morris Hospital. Born September 7, 1924 in Eastland, TN to the late Clarence and Myrtle (nee Guy) Phifer; she was raised in Tennessee. She married David A. Whittington June 20, 1945 in Tennessee and soon after moved to Rock Falls, IL with her husband where they raised their family and resided for over 50 years. Hazel was a nurses aide at Community General Hospital in Sterling, IL for 30 years. She also worked for a short time at Big Ben in Peru. Beloved mother of David, Jr. (Suzy) of Cookville, TN; Dale (Rita) of Morris; Greg (Sandy) of Dallas, TX and Allan (Chris) of Sharpsburg, GA. Loving grandmother of Monica (Eric) Rubright; Stephanie (John) Williams; Scott (Kendra) Whittington; Traci (Roger) Fox; Regina (Jon) Renken; HM 3 Arron Whittington, U.S. Navy and Cori Whittington. Proud great-grandmother of Taija Rubright, Josh Rubright; E-4 Seth Williams U.S. Army; Daniel, Jessica and Kristin Fox; Shelby and Madison Renken. Dear sister of Edward (Katherine) Phifer of Doyle, TN; Marilyn (Larry) Denty of Mt. Morris, MI., and Johnnie Hudson (Norman Calbo) of Sparta, TN. A brother-in-law Jim Bratcher of Cookville, TN. survives as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband in 2008; her parents; great grandson, Jedidia, and siblings, Jesse Bratcher, Earl (late Della) Phifer and Ada (late R.L.) Jones. Funeral services for Hazel C. Whittington will be held Monday December 20, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Shaw officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
