Obituary of Betty Wilhelmi
Betty M. Wilhelmi
Age 87, late of Coal City and formerly of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Morris Hospital. Born January 15, 1923 in Joliet, she was the daughter of George Adam and Lillian (nee Heitkotter) Wilhelmi. She was a graduate of St. Charles Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, as a nursing supervisor after 33 years of service. She was active in the development of the Joliet Area Community Hospice, serving as President of the Hospice Guild, and also was a St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer. She also loved to travel.
Betty deeply touched the lives of her nieces and nephews, opening her home and her heart to them.
Loving sister to Mary "Marge" (late Philip E.) Burgess of Coal City and fond aunt to Karin (James) Wagner, Mary Pat Burgess, Denise Trotter, Philip Cragg Burgess, Lisa Burgess, and Nanette Burgess; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; and one niece, Renee Burgess
A Memorial Mass for Betty M. Wilhelmi will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Private Inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Grundy County Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday, 4-8 p.m. at:
