Edward L. Williams
Age 88, of Plainfield Township, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 7, 2009 at home. Born in Muscatine, IA on February 5, 1921 to the late Everett and Hedwig (Bielefeld) Robinson, he resided in the Joliet area for over the past 40 years. A World War II U.S. Army Veteran who served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres, receiving various citations and medals including two bronze stars. He also served in the U.S. Air Force until being honorably discharged in 1957. Former owner and operator of Williams Radio in Joliet where he was known as "Maverick the Radio Doctor". Former member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Ridgewood Cycle Association.
Survived by his loving wife, Cheryl N. (nee Riblon) Williams of Joliet; his daughter, Cynthia Williams; grandsons, Robert and William Vercelotti; one cousin, MaryLee (Warren) Longhurst of Muscatine, IA.
Funeral services for Edward L. Williams will be Friday, June 12, 2009, 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Vitas Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the services begin at:
