Obituary of Delores Valentino

Valentino, Delores G. (nee Wassmer) Age 85. Passed away peacefully Friday, January 11, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 26, 1927 in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (nee Berman) Wassmer. Delores was an amazing woman who, widowed at the age of 48, continued raising her family of seven children, along with beginning a career in 1976, serving as Director of Food Service at St. Mary Nativity School where she was dearly loved by the students and staff and touched the lives of thousands. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved being involved in all her family's activities. Survived by two sons, Fred Valentino of Minooka and Bill (Patti) Valentino of Naperville; four daughters, Neva (Michael) Iravani of LaPorte, IN, Gina (George) Burosh of Joliet, Mary Lou Valentino of Plainfield and Linda (Jim) Horvatin of Crest Hill; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded by her beloved husband, Raymond Valentino (1976); one son, Mark D. Valentino (2001); and her parents. The family wishes to thank all the physicians and nurses who cared for her throughout her illness, especially Dr. Parikh, Dr. Alex Sosenko and Joliet Area Community Hospice. Funeral Services for Delores G. Valentino will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
