Obituary of James Smith

James J. Smith Age 70. Passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, with his family at his side. Jim ("Wiz") was a life-long Joliet area resident, a Vietnam veteran (U.S. Army) and a member of the Teamsters Local #179. As a driver for Nussbaum Trucking, he enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. Following retirement, he enjoyed working at Heritage Bluff Golf Course. Jim was a lifetime member of the VFW, an avid baseball fan, and a well-read history and geography buff. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda (nee Link) Smith; children, Jennifer (Bill) Cartwright, Alexander (Kate) Smith, Susan (Chuck) Morin, Nancy Smith and Zachary Smith; grandchildren, Samantha and Sabrina Cartwright; Henry and Piper Smith; and Charlie and James Reed Morin; two sisters, Mary Ann (George) Seeley and Patricia (late Bob) Plut. Preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Theresa (nee Jerzycki) Smith. A Memorial Mass for James J. Smith will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Drive, Channahon with Fr. Jeff Stoneberg officiating. Memorials in Jim's name may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Ann Catholic Church, Channahon.
