Obituary of Mayvis Rigoni

Mayvis Ann (Walsh) Rigoni (nee Wenzel) Age 92. Passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Timbers of Shorewood with her loving family by her side. Born in Chicago, she has lived most of her life in the Joliet and Plainfield areas. Attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet Township High School where she was an active member of the Class of 1938. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond for over 50 years. She liked to sew and do most any kind of needlework, she handmade many stuffed animals for the Silver Cross Hospital Pediatrics Department as a member of the volunteers from Cantigny VFW Post #367. Mayvis is survived by her loving husband and family, Fred "Fritz" Rigoni of Shorewood; three sons, Thomas R. (Debbie) Walsh of Vero Beach, FL, Ronald G. (Donna) Walsh and Robert J. (Diana) Walsh of Shorewood; two daughters, Cynthia A. (Bennett) Kahn of Northbrook, IL and Jean E. Kahler of Roselle, IL; two step-daughters, Gina (Gordon) Carrier of Shorewood, and Carla (Alan) Schumacher of Elgin, IL; 14 grandchildren, Daniel Walsh, Mary Beth (Patrick) Daly, Jennifer Valtz, Kieran (Sasha) Walsh, Keleigh (Micah) Jagel, and Kevin (Brittany) Walsh, all of Florida, Nicole (Paul) Stewart of Naperville, Kristine (Curt) Roberts of Norfolk, VA, Theodora Kahn and Zachary Kahn of Northbrook, Alex Kahler of Aurora, and Robert G. Walsh, David Walsh and Evelyn Walsh of Shorewood. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Rigoni and James (Margie) Walsh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert G. Walsh in 1966; her parents, Emil and Elena Wenzel; a granddaughter, Jill Walsh; a sister, Irene Gordon; and two brothers, Frederick Wenzel and Richard Feltes. Funeral Services for Mayvis Ann Rigoni will be Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet 60431 to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
