I first met Rob in 1987 at Portillo's. I was right out of college and starting into management. He came over to the Bloomingdale location to assume the role of co-manager (asst GM). He basically took me under his wing, mentored me, and became a very good friend. I was very timid and low key as a manager before meeting Rob. His outgoing and boisterous personality rubbed off on me in a positive way. His guidance was very instrumental for me in growing as a manager.Throughout the years, he was always there for me. Anytime I needed anything, whether it was help moving, helping me get a car, or just giving me advice, I could always count on Rob. We drifted over the last few years being busy with our own lives, but I reached out to him before last Christmas. At that point, he told me that I was and would always be considered one of his close and personal friends. I will miss him.
