Obituary of Lonnie Briley
Lonnie H. Briley
Age 70. Passed away peacefully, August 7, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born August 30, 1938 to the late Willis and Mayselle (Upton) Briley, he was a longtime Lockport resident prior to moving to Morris 3 years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita R. (Little); Son Kenneth (Wendy) Briley; Daughter Sondra (William) Cordes; Grandchildren, Tasha, Deven, Kenneth Jr. "Buck" , David; Timothy and Mathew. One brother Morgan (Sandy) Briley and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A. U.S. Army veteran of Viet-Nam, Lonnie was a medic and advanced with his training, becoming a nurse, serving in the Army 20 years. He continued his healthcare career at Joliet Correctional Center for eight years and then felt the need for a change, driving a school bus for 18 years, primarily for VanCom and Valleyview school district until retiring. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and spending time with the guys at the barn.
Funeral services for Lonnie H. Briley will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at:
