John Lopez
Age 77. At rest, Sunday, March 24, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Joliet to the late Joseph and Nazaria (Cortez) Lopez, he was a lifelong resident. A U.S. Army veteran. Retired from Joliet Central High School Maintenance Department following 35 years of service. Member of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer Glen, serving his church as an usher and volunteering his time maintaining the grounds of Calvary Cemetery. An avid woodworker.
Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Marilyn (Wright) Lopez of Joliet; his children, John R. (Edna) Lopez of Joliet, Dale A. (Joan) Lopez of Plainfield, and Janice L. (Michael Ward) Lopez of Homer Glen; five grandchildren, Brianna (John) Haney, and Derick, Joshua, Steven and Philip Lopez; two brothers, Roy Lopez and Anthony (Marsha) Lopez, both of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for John Lopez will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 14610 S Will Cook Rd., Homer Glen, IL 60491 for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church or Vitas Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a Parastas Service at 7:00 p.m.
